The Ming Wall was the last of the Great Walls to be built and it was the most technically advanced. In 1987, the Great Wall was listed as a "World Cultural Heritage" by the United Nations. In recent years, this section of Great Wall was repaired and the Great Wall Museum built nearby.

The Badaling section of the Great Wall is around 24 ft. (7.5 m.) high and 21 ft. (6.5 m.) wide at the base and 19 ft. (5.8 m.) wide at the top. This gave enough room for a 10 person wide column of solders to walk on top of the wall.
