Mt. Everest Region

Mt. Nuptse and Mt. Everest

In both of these pictures, Mt. Everest (29,035 ft. or 8850 m.) is the peak that is the furthest back in the picture. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay first climbed Mt. Everest in 1953.

Mt. Nuptse (25,790 ft. or 7861 m.) is the focus of the picture on the right. Dennis Davis and Sherpa Tashi first climbed Mt. Nuptse in 1961.

Namche Bazaar

Namche Bazaar, elevation 11,200 ft. (3440 m.) is a Sherpa Village near Mt. Kwangde. Mt Kwangde is also know as Kwangde Ri (20,298 ft. or 6187 m.) and was first climbed in 1975 by Lharkpha Tenzing, Sonam Gyalzen, Shambhu Tamang, and Sonam Hisi.
